A total of 140 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 157 summonses were issued to motorists and pedestrians who violated traffic regulations during an operation by Police Kowloon East Region yesterday (December 29).
The Kowloon East Regional Traffic Day was conducted between 7am and 11pm yesterday. A total of 272 officers from Traffic Kowloon East, District Traffic Teams of Wong Tai Sin, Sau Mau Ping and Kwun Tong were deployed to enforce regulations at traffic accident blacksites and potential traffic accident locations in Kowloon East Region.
Another 302 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and other parking offences.
A total of 68 people were verbally warned for committing jaywalking and other minor traffic offences.
Meanwhile, pamphlets and leaflets on road safety message were also distributed to the road users.
Police statistics revealed that a total of 1 906 traffic accidents with person injured had occurred in Kowloon East Region from January to November this year.
