Re-appointment of Hong Kong representatives to ABAC
***************************************************

The Government today (December 30) announced the re-appointment of the Managing Director of Jardine Matheson Group, Mr Anthony Nightingale, and the Chairman of Shui On Holdings Limited, Mr Vincent Lo, as Hong Kong's representatives to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

The re-appointments are from January 1, 2012, to the end of 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, spoke highly of the services rendered by Mr Nightingale and Mr Lo.

He said, "The Government is very grateful for their tremendous contributions to ABAC over the years in fostering closer co-operation between APEC and the Asia-Pacific business community. Despite their heavy public and business commitments, they participated actively in the work of ABAC. Their wise counsel is invaluable to ABAC's taking forward of the priorities of this important regional business forum."

Mr Nightingale and Mr Lo are currently Hong Kong's representatives to ABAC. Their term will expire at the end of this year. Hong Kong's other incumbent representative to ABAC is the Chairman of PCCW Limited, Mr Richard Li.

ABAC was established in 1996 as a permanent business advisory body to provide advice to APEC on business sector priorities for implementing its goal toward free and open trade and investment in the Asia-Pacific region.
