Two men jailed for manufacturing and trafficking in dangerous drugs

     Two men, aged 60 and 41, were sentenced to 25 years¡¯ imprisonment for manufacturing and trafficking in dangerous drugs at the Court of First Instance today (December 15).

     The court heard that following intensive investigation, officers of Narcotics Bureau mounted an operation leading to the arrest of a 60-year-old Hong Kong man and a 41-year-old expatriate man for manufacturing of cocaine extracted from Christmas decorative figurines and trafficking in cocaine in Sheung Wan on September 24, 2010.  Over 1.3 kilograms of cocaine valued at $1.7 million was seized in the operation.

     Both men were subsequently charged with manufacturing of dangerous drugs and trafficking in dangerous drugs. They were convicted yesterday (December 14) and the sentence was handed down today.

     Police reiterated that drug manufacturing and trafficking are serious offences and offenders may be liable to a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Police will continue to conduct operations to combating such legal activities.
