32 building plans approved in June

     The Buildings Department approved 32 building plans in June - 17 on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 15 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments, and seven were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 13 building projects that, when completed, will provide 98 930 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 805 units, and 42 617 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 18 occupation permits - eight on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 17 025 square metres, involving 133 units, and 39 045 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in June totalled about $1 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 5 347 complaints against unauthorised building works in June, and issued 275 removal orders on unauthorised works.
