The Research Grants Council (RGC) will present the second public lecture for this year on the topic "Information Technology" on Saturday (April 9) at the Hong Kong Science Museum.
Co-organised with the Hong Kong Science Museum, the RGC has invited Professor Victor O K Li, Chair Professor of Information and Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong; Professor Liew Soung-chang, Department of Information Engineering, The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and Professor S C Chan, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong; to introduce and share their research findings with the public. Details are as follows:

Free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
Professor Li and Professor Liew will present a talk on "Areas of Excellence project in Information Technology", a joint collaboration of The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 2000 for the teaching, research and knowledge transfer of information technology. Professor Li and Professor Liew will highlight the key contributions and describe on-going research in the area. The topic of Professor Chan's lecture is "Processing Digital Images and Videos - Basic Principle and Emerging Applications". Apart from sharing his experience and findings in the field, Professor Chan will look into the future development of three-dimensional television and related application techniques.
