Entries invited for Endangered Species Protection Photo Story Competition
********************************************************

Members of the public are invited to take part in the Endangered Species Protection Photo Story Competition organised by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), with entries being accepted from today (April 4) to May 31.

The competition aims to spead awareness of endangered species protection through stories and photos.

The competition comprises two categories: the secondary school section and the open section. The entry should feature the theme of the protection of endangered flora and fauna, such as promoting sustainable use of wildlife resources, combating illegal trade of wild animals and plants and/or encourage compliance with the requirements under the Protection of Endangered Species of Animals and Plants Ordinance. Participants should create a story with four to six photos on a piece of A3 size paper (420 x 297 mm).

"A champion, a first runner-up, a second runner-up and ten 'outstanding' awards will be selected for each category. An award for active participation will be given to the school with the highest number of submissions. Each winner will be awarded a certificate and a voucher," an AFCD spokesman said.

Entry form and details are available on AFCD's website www.cites.org.hk. For enquiries, please call 2150 6974 during office hours.

Entries with the completed forms for open section should be submitted by post or delivery to the Endangered Species Protection Division, AFCD, 5/F, Cheung Sha Wan Government Offices, 303 Cheung Sha Wan Road, Kowloon before May 31. Secondary student participants must submit their entries through their schools.

Results will be published on the department's website in mid-June. Winners will be notified individually. The prize presentation ceremony will be held in the Hong Kong Wetland Park in July.
