The Transport Department (TD) today (March 31) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented from midnight to 5.30am on April 3 (this Sunday) and April 10 (next Sunday) in Central and Admiralty to facilitate elevated walkway erection works.
The arrangements mainly include:
* Some traffic lanes on Harcourt Road eastbound and Harcourt Road westbound and their connecting roads (including Cotton Tree Drive, Rodney Street, Tamar Street, Connaught Road Central, Gloucester Road and Pedder Street underpass); and Tim Wa Avenue southbound, Lung Wo Road eastbound and Tim Mei Avenue northbound will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from midnight to 5.30am.
* The section of Harcourt Road eastbound between Cotton Tree Drive and Tim Mei Avenue will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 12.30am to 5.30am.
* The elevated section of Harcourt Road westbound; and the at-grade section of Harcourt Road between Rodney Street northbound and Tamar Street southbound will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 2am to 5.30am.
* During the road closure period, motorists are advised to travel via the following roads:
(a) For eastbound journeys from Central and Mid-levels, motorists are advised to travel via Queensway, Arsenal Street flyover and Gloucester Road; and
(b) For westbound journeys heading for Central and Mid-levels , motorists are advised to travel via (i) Gloucester Road service road, Fenwick Street and Hennessy Road; or via (ii) Rodney Street, Drake Street and Tamar Street.
* At the same time, franchised bus routes 18, 18P, 43X, 590, 780, 788, A11, A12, and N691, as well as GMB route 31 will be temporarily diverted. Some stops within the affected area will be suspended and temporary stops will be designated.
Notices will be put up at respective stops and inside vehicle compartments to inform passengers of the temporary diversions and stop arrangements.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news broadcasts via radio and television channels.
