The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (March 31) attended the 2011 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum (2011 MIECF) to learn about the latest developments and efforts by different cities and regions in building a low carbon and sustainable future.
Leading the Hong Kong Government delegation, Mr Yau attended the opening ceremony of the Forum as well as the keynote address in the morning.
During the networking luncheon, he exchanged views with Macau counterparts on Hong Kong's efforts in building a greener society through a multi-pronged approach, including the promotion of energy-efficient buildings, green buildings and electric vehicles.
Later in the afternoon, he called on the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr Fernando Chui Sai On, to exchange views on environmental issues of mutual concern.
Mr Yau will return to Hong Kong in the evening.
