Special traffic and transport arrangements for Rugby Sevens
***********************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (March 22) reminded the public that the following major special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (March 25-27) to facilitate the holding of Hong Kong Sevens rugby matches at the Hong Kong Stadium.

     The arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 2pm on Friday (March 25), from about 7am on Saturday (March 26) and from about 6.45am on Sunday (March 27), Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road will be re-routed to one-way southbound and one-way northbound respectively to facilitate the arrival of spectators.

* From about 8.50pm on Friday, from about 6.45pm on Saturday and from 6.15pm on Sunday, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path, Link Road northbound and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators until crowds have dispersed.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus routes 5B, 37A, 75, 90 and 97, New World First Bus route 590A, cross-harbour routes 601, 680, 690, 914 and 948, GMB routes 14M, 26 and 30, and residents' service route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* A free shuttle bus service will operate from MTR Admiralty Station to Hong Kong Stadium before the event and from the Hong Kong Stadium to Lan Kwai Fong and MTR Admiralty Station after the event. Cross-harbour bus route 117R will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok after the event.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the road closure areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of the affected areas will be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport services.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news broadcast via radio and television channels.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk).
