CSSA caseload for December 2010

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in December 2010 showed a decrease of 703 cases over November, representing a decrease of 0.2%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (January 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of December stood at 283,176 (see attached table), with 466,006 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.3% to 29,813 cases, while low earning cases showed a decrease of 0.8% to 14,407 cases.

     Single parent cases and ill health cases also registered a decrease of 0.5 % and 0.3% respectively to 34,372 and 25,190 cases.

     However, permanent disability cases registered a month-to-month increase of 0.1% to 18,381 cases.
