The Government today (December 31) announced the appointment of Mr Jason Wong Chun-tat, Mr Brandon Lau Chin-keung and Mr Stephen Van Wormer to the Advisory Committee on Cruise Industry (ACCI). Their term will run from January 1, 2011, to January 27, 2012.
Mr Wong is the Director and General Manager of Hong Thai Travel Services Limited. Mr Lau is the Senior Advisor, Business Development Cruise of China Travel Service (Hong Kong) Limited, and Mr Van Wormer is the Managing Director-Hong Kong and Southeast Asia- of MSC Cruises Asia Company Limited.
"We welcome the three new members to the committee. With their professional knowledge and experience in the cruise market and the travel industry, we are confident that they will contribute to ACCI's work in developing Hong Kong as a leading cruise hub in the region," a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said.
Since its establishment in January 2008, the ACCI has provided advice to the Government on issues relating to cruise tourism development in Hong Kong and the region, fostering co-operation with neighbouring Mainland coastal provinces on cruise itinerary development, enhancing manpower supply for the cruise market, and facilitating interim berthing arrangements for cruise vessels.
