Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Castle Peak this afternoon (December 29) in which an 84-year-old man died.
About 4.05pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 39-year-old man was travelling along Sam Shing Street towards Castle Peak Road. When approaching the junction with Castle Peak Road (Castle Peak Bay section), it reportedly hit the 84-year-old man who was crossing the road.
The man sustained severe head injury and was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital where he was certified dead at 5.28pm.
The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and was released on bail pending further investigation.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
