"China Dance Forward" to reveal the new face of Chinese modern dance
********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC) jointly present "China Dance Forward" in January. This production showcases China's thriving contemporary art scene, as well as reflecting the current cultural boom in Taiwan, Hong Kong and in the Mainland. It also presents an overview of the works of China's exciting young ethnic choreographers.

Over the past two decades, Willy Tsao, artistic director of the CCDC, has done much to promote modern dance in the Mainland, and has borne witness to its development and fruition in both north and south China. Now, through an open call, he has selected top Chinese modern dance artists of the new generation to perform in Hong Kong. Coming from Beijing, Taipei, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Jinan, Yinchuan, Nanchang and Shenzhen, these groups will present the hippest styles, visions and focuses in Chinese modern dance today.

The production includes two different programmes, with different combinations of dance troupes and dancers, to be staged at the Theatre, Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre. Details are as follows:

Programme I

January 29, 2011 (Saturday) 3pm
