Food premises in Sham Shui Po ordered to suspend business
*********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory licensee in Sham Shui Po to suspend business for 14 days.  The operator repeatedly extended food business illegally in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The food premises "Tum Yum Thai", located at Shop 1 on the ground floor of Goldtop Garden at 159 - 161 Camp Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (December 28) to January 10, 2011.

"In May and October this year, two convictions on the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $6,400 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

He said the food factory licensee also had two convictions in October 2009 and April this year for the same offence.  Another total fine of $5,200 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches had led to business suspension for seven days from June 11 to 17 this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
