Share the festive joy at North District Market Fair for SEs
***********************************************************

To share the joy of the festive season and support the underprivileged at the same time, the public are invited to shop at the "North District Market Fair for Social Enterprises (SEs)", organised by the Home Affairs Department (HAD) at Fanling Recreation Ground on Boxing Day (December 26).

The HAD will arrange for SEs sponsored by the "Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme" (ESR Programme) to set up booths at the market fair to showcase and promote their products and services, with a view to enhancing public understanding of SEs and encouraging the consumption of their products and services.

At the fair, participating SEs will display a wide variety of products and services, including health food and drinks, South Asian costumes and hand-painting, environmentally-friendly cleaning products for vehicles, express delivery services, exhibition services and home care for the elderly and discharged patients. Some SEs will also hand out discount coupons. Please refer to Annex for details of the participating SEs.

The market fair will be open from 10.30am to 6pm. Admission is free. The public may also pay a visit to the concurrently held "North District 2010 Flower, Bird, Insect & Fish Show".

The HAD launched the ESR Programme in 2006 to provide seed grants to eligible organisations for the initial operations of SE projects. These projects will in turn create job opportunities for the underprivileged to enhance their skills and to help their integration into the community.

Since its establishment, a total funding of about $110 million has been approved in eight phases of applications to set up more than 100 SE projects.
