SFST to speak at Caijing Annual Conference in Beijing

     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, departed for Beijing this evening (December 15) to attend the "Caijing Annual Conference 2011: Forecasts and Strategies".

     He will speak at a plenary session of the Conference, entitled "The Reform and Outlook of Capital Markets", on the afternoon of December 17 (Friday).

     The two-day Caijing Conference, which starts tomorrow, is jointly organised by the Caijing Magazine, www.caijing.com.cn and the Boyuan Foundation.

     The Caijing Annual Conference is a significant annual event for China's economic and financial sectors. Since its founding in 2004, it has offered an international platform for government officials, representatives of regulatory bodies, scholars, and business and financial leaders to exchange views on topics concerning China's economy and finance.

     During his visit to Beijing, Professor Chan will accompany the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, to meet with officials of the National Development and Reform Commission on Friday to discuss Hong Kong's participation in the preparation for the National 12th Five-Year Plan.

     He will return to Hong Kong on Saturday (December 18).
