*********************************************************

An exhibition organised by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) on the impact of climate change and ways of tackling it will continue at Whampoa Garden in Hung Hom until this Thursday (December 16).

"Climate change poses an unprecedented challenge to human beings. We must tackle it by leading a low carbon lifestyle," an EPD spokesman said today (December 14).

"The exhibition aims to promote a low-carbon lifestyle. Apart from learning about the impact of climate change on Hong Kong, visitors to the exhibition can also join in interactive games to learn what we should do to help make Hong Kong a low carbon city," he said.

The exhibition is being held at 2B2 of Fashion World, Wonderful Worlds of Whampoa, from noon to 8pm until Thursday.

To help combat climate change in Hong Kong, the Government has launched a public consultation exercise to propose a comprehensive action agenda to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and gather public views on possible solutions.

The public consultation period has been extended until December 31. Views and comments can be sent by mail to the Climate Change Policy Co-ordination Section, Cross-boundary & International Division, Environmental Protection Department, 33/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, or e-mail (cc_consultation@epd.gov.hk), facsimile (2838 2155) or via internet  (www.epd.gov.hk/epd/english/climate_change/consult.html). The consultation document can be downloaded from the website of EPD (www.epd.gov.hk).
