CS meets academics and non-governmental organisations on population policy review (with photo)
*********************************************************

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, today (December 8) met academics and representatives from non-government organisations (NGOs) at the Central Government Offices.

This is the first of a series of consultation meetings with stakeholders regarding the focus study as stated in the 2010-11 Policy Address on ways to facilitate and support our elderly people to settle in the Mainland after retirement if they so wish and the ramifications of children born in Hong Kong to Mainland women when they return to Hong Kong to study and live.

The group comprises experts in the subject area.  Some of them also have first hand experience serving our elderly people who have settled in the Mainland. Mr Tang said that he appreciated the candid exchange and welcomed the experts' views on possible measures to support our elderly people.

Mr Tang will continue to meet other stakeholders in the coming weeks to listen to their views.
