Following is a statement by the Chief Executive's Office on the report of the Legislative Council Select Committee to Inquire into Matters Relating to the Post-service Work of Mr Leung Chin-man today (December 8):
The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, noted that there had been inadequacies in the relevant authorities' handling of the application for post-service employment by Mr Leung Chin-man. The Secretary for the Civil Service has taken responsibility and apologised once again to the public for the matter.
The Chief Executive has asked the Civil Service Bureau to be more prudent and meticulous in handling applications for post-service employment by former directorate civil servants. The Government will study and consider the recommendations of the report of the Select Committee and the report submitted earlier by the independent Review Committee appointed by the Chief Executive, with a view to improving the existing regime as soon as possible.
