SCED congratulates SCHSA on winning global ICT award
****************************************************

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, today (December 7) congratulated the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association (SCHSA) and its project partner on winning a grand award for its Mobile Link Service in the "m-Inclusion & Empowerment" category at 2010 World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-Mobile). The award presentation ceremony was held in Abu Dhabi on December 6 (United Arab Emirates time).

This is the second major international award that Mobile Link Service has won recently, after receiving the Digital Opportunity Award grand prize at the World Information Technology Services Alliance Global ICT Excellence Awards 2010 in May.

"The Mobile Link Service demonstrates the successful application of information and communications technology in providing caring social services for the elderly. It has won a number of awards both locally and internationally. The WSA-Mobile not only adds to the acclaim but is also a further recognition of Hong Kong's achievement in technology application. I extend my warmest congratulations," Mrs Lau said.

WSA-Mobile is a global awards contest that selects and promotes the world's best in mobile content and innovative applications. More than 420 projects nominated by nearly 100 United Nations member states entered the contest in eight categories this year, with five winners awarded in each category.
