HAD has opened community centre for fire victims
************************************************

With regard to media enquiries on the No. 3 alarm fire which broke out at the junction of Fa Yuen Street and Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok today (December 6), a spokesman for the Home Affairs Department responded as follows:

The Yau Tsim Mong District Office (YTMDO) had set up an inter-departmental help desk in the vicinity with the Police and the Social Welfare Department in the morning to register the affected victims and offer help to those in need. YTMDO had also set up a help desk at Kwong Wah Hospital earlier.

Except for residents of the building situated at 220 Fa Yuen Street which remains closed for safety reasons, the remaining residents can gradually return home. YTMDO has opened Henry G Leong Yaumatei Community Centre as temporary shelter since 6.30pm for people in need of temporary accommodation. The number of affected residents is being collated.

As at 6pm, a total of 90 applications for relief under the General Chinese Charities Fund have been received and the grants will be released from tonight.

The affected lots are from 46-52 Nullah Road to 195-197 Fa Yuen Street, and from 177 Prince Edward Road West to 206 Fa Yuen Street.
