SHA highly commends HK athletes in Asian Games

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (November 26) highly commended Hong Kong athletes for their triumphs in achieving the best-ever results in the Asian Games.

     "We witnessed spectacular sportsmanship from our athletes in the Guangzhou Asian Games. They have altogether captured a total of 40 medals, which include eight gold, exceeding the total number of medals won in any of the previous Asian Games," Mr Tsang said.

     "I extend my warmest congratulations to our athletes for accomplishing such amazing results in these highly competitive games. They created a glorious and lasting legacy in our sport history," he said.

     "They enthralled us by demonstrating tremendous skills and tenacity, which are qualities deeply imbedded in Hong Kong people. Their performances represented the very best of us and won the acclaim of the whole community. We are extremely proud of them."

     The Hong Kong delegation has scored a total of eight gold, 15 silver and 17 bronze medals in the 2010 Asian Games. The list of Hong Kong athletes who won medals today is as follows.
