34 building plans approved in October

     The Buildings Department approved 34 building plans in October - 11 on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 20 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and eight were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 50,914 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 331 units, and 23,180 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued five occupation permits - two on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and one in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 5,584 square metres, involving one unit, and 43,054 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in October totalled about $1.2 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,348 complaints against unauthorised building works in October, and issued 1,558 removal orders on unauthorised works.
