The Director of Broadcasting, Mr Franklin Wong Wah-kay, has decided not to renew his contract upon its expiry. The Government will conduct an open recruitment exercise for the post.
The Government has been in close contact with Mr Wong on contract renewal. Mr Wong has decided for personal reasons not to renew his contract upon its expiry in February 2011. The Government understands and respects the decision of Mr Wong.
With his rich broadcasting experience and professional knowledge, Mr Wong has led Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) over the past two years through new milestones and has laid a solid foundation for RTHK to fulfill its mission as a public service broadcaster. The Government expresses sincere gratitude to Mr Wong for his contribution and wishes him good health and happiness.
The Government will conduct the open recruitment in accordance with established procedures as soon as possible to identify a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy arising from Mr Wong's departure.
