SHA in Guangzhou to cheer athletes on (with photos)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, left for Guangzhou today (November 19) to show support for Hong Kong athletes participating in table tennis mixed doubles and squash events in the Guangzhou Asian Games.  

     He cheered them on, encouraging them to strive for excellence and reach new heights in the competitions.

     Mr Tsang said, "Hong Kong athletes have achieved remarkable results in the last few days by seizing five gold, nine silver and six bronze medals. They have demonstrated great perseverance and exemplary sportsmanship."

     "I hope that they would keep on and have every confidence that they would reach new heights in the remaining individual and group events."

     Mr Tsang also took the opportunity to visit Miss Wong Wan-yiu, the injured female cyclist and other cyclists at the athletes¡¯ village. He applauded their strong determination and great perseverance demonstrated in the race, and wished Miss Wong a quick recovery.
