Auction results for Victoria Park Lunar New Year fair stalls

     The two-day auction for stalls at the 2011 Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair in Eastern District began today (November 15), and a total of 177 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls were successfully let.

     About 565 people attended the auction at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, from 9am to 5.30pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

     The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $15,232, with the successful bids ranging from $8,000 to $45,000. The highest bid of $45,000 was almost 5.6 times the opening price of $8,000.

     The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $2,696,100, compared with $2,946,440 last year.

     For the fast food stalls, the bid price for the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was $380,000, against an opening price of $276,220. The bid prices for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were $365,000 and 280,000, against an opening price of $147,950.

     The auction for the eight thematic dry goods stalls and 284 dry goods stalls will be held at 9am tomorrow at the same venue.
