Hong Kong Observatory Almanac 2011 on sale

     The Hong Kong Observatory Almanac 2011 is now on sale.

     The almanac is bilingual (English and Chinese) and contains lots of information, including the traditional Chinese calendar and the times of daily sunrise, sun transit, sunset, moonrise, moon transit, moonset, high and low tides, arranged month by month.  The times of meridian passage, rising and setting of the sun and planets are graphically illustrated.  Star maps of the four quarters of the year, duration of twilight, details of equinoxes, solstices, eclipses, background information of calendars, observation of meteor streams and planetary phenomena as well as monthly climatological information of Hong Kong and selected world cities are also included.

     At $18 a copy, the almanac is available at the Hong Kong Observatory Resource Centre, the Publications Sales Unit of the Information Services Department, the Kowloon Map Publications Centre of the Lands Department, General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tuen Mun Central Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office.  An electronic book-ordering service is also available at the online Government Bookstore www.bookstore.gov.hk , details of which can be obtained through the telephone enquiry service of the Information Services Department at 2537 1910.
