SHA attends flag raising ceremony for Hong Kong, China, delegation at Asian Games (with photos)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (November 11) attended the flag raising ceremony for the Hong Kong, China, delegation at the 16th Asian Games in Panyu, Guangzhou in support of Hong Kong's athletes.

     The ceremony was held at 4pm in the athletes' village in Panyu. Mr Tsang took the opportunity to meet with the Hong Kong delegation afterwards, including a tour around their accommodation facilities.

     Mr Tsang appealed to the athletes to show their spirit of perseverance and strive for excellence at the games, and hoped that they would bring home good results.

     The 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou from November 12 to 27. Hong Kong will send its largest contingent ever to the Games, comprising about 395 athletes and 150 team officials, to participate in some 30 sports.
