Lecture series organised for "Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival"

     A series of lectures organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will take place each Saturday this month to complement the "Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" exhibition at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong International Airport, until November 29.

     The exhibition is jointly presented by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and co-organised by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination and the LCSD, with the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust as the exclusive sponsor.

     The lecture series, to be held in Meeting Room 201 at AsiaWorld-Expo, will comprise six presentations.

     On November 13, Mr Szeto Yuen-kit, Curator of Hong Kong Museum of Art, will present "Unrolling the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival' in Hong Kong" at 2.30pm, while Ms Mao Zhuchen, Deputy Director of the China Pavilion Department of Shanghai World Expo, will speak on the "Landmark of the Shanghai World Expo ¡ª The China Pavilion", at 3.30pm.

     Mr Yu Zheng, Director of the Exhibition Business Department of Crystal Digital Technology Co. Ltd. (Shanghai) will give a presentation on the "Interpretation of Chinese Cultural Masterpieces through Modern Technology", at 2.30pm on November 20. This will be followed by another presentation at 3.30pm on "Contemporary Interpretation of Chinese Culture ¡ª 'Animated Version of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'", by Mr Chiu Kwong-chiu, Director of the Design & Cultural Studies Workshop (Hong Kong).

     On November 27, Mr Samuel Choy, General Manager of Bliss Concepts Limited will present "The Attempt for Integrating Chinese Cultural & Heritage in Mainstream Media" at 2.30pm. Professor Victor F.S. Sit, Director of the Advanced Institute for Contemporary China Studies of the Hong Kong Baptist University, will speak on "Chinese Culture as Reflected by the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'" at 3.30pm.

     The lectures by Ms Mao Zhuchen and Mr Yu Zheng will be conducted in Putonghua while the others will be in Cantonese.

     Additionally, another lecture series featuring three presentations is scheduled at the Hong Kong Museum of History.

     Dr Ho Koon-wan, Associate Professor of the Department of Chinese Culture of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will speak on "Life and Society of the Northern Song Dynasty as Featured in 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'" on November 13. On November 20, Mr Raymond Tang, Assistant Curator I of Hong Kong Museum of Art will speak on "All About the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'". Mr Chan Ki-hung, Curator of Hong Kong Space Museum will speak on "Canal Transport of the Song Dynasty as featured in the 'Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival'" on November 27.

     Presented in Cantonese, these lectures will be held from 11am to 1pm in the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Museum of History. The Museum is located at No. 100, Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
