Public Sector Reform Conference 2010

     To help ensure that government institutions continue to provide effective services that best meet the needs of the city and society in 2020 and beyond, the Government will hold a three-day Public Sector Reform Conference 2010, starting tomorrow (November 9) at the Sha Tin Town Hall.

     Under the theme "Public Service 2020", the conference will explore human and organisational issues that public services will need to address over the next decade, and start mapping out a programme of regeneration.  

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang; and the Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, will speak at the respective openings of different sessions of the conference.

     Attendance at the conference is by invitation for senior and professional staff of the civil service and representatives in the political, academic, business, non-governmental organisations and cultural fields. It is anticipated that about 1,000 participants will take part in the four sessions of the three-day conference.

     Conference details, including the speakers' biographies and synopses, can be found on the conference portal (www.ps2020.gov.hk) where updates will be posted regularly.

     Public Sector Reform Conferences are organised by the Efficiency Unit, Chief Secretary for Administration's Office biennially to review and develop the agenda for improving public services.
