An exhibition will be held from November 6 to 24, 2010, to let members of the public view and comment on the 30 artworks shortlisted under the "Public Art Project - Tamar".
"The project has attracted a total of 326 proposals, an overwhelming response which the Government is very pleased with.
"It shows that the art community has responded enthusiastically to the Government's efforts to promote local art at the prime site of Tamar," a government spokesman said today (October 21).
The adjudication panel, chaired by the Chief Secretary for Administration and with renowned artists and architects as members, has completed the preliminary assessment and has shortlisted 30 artwork proposals to be considered for installation at Tamar. The result is available on the website of the Art Promotion Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (www.lcsd.gov.hk/apo).
The spokesman said images of the shortlisted artwork proposals were also available from the website. Stressing the need to safeguard the integrity and fairness of the adjudication process, the spokesman reminded all relevant parties that they should avoid any comments or moves that might prejudice or be perceived as prejudicing the fairness and integrity of the adjudication. Reports on the artwork proposals, for instance, should as far as possible accord fair and equal treatment to all the shortlisted proposals.
To collect public comments on the shortlisted artwork proposals, the Government will hold an exhibition, details of which are as follows:
