Statement by Chief Executive's Office
*************************************

With regard to media reports quoting some Legislative Council (LegCo) members as saying that in a meeting between the LegCo president and some members yesterday, the president had mentioned that the Chief Executive had discussed with him his voting preference for the constitutional reform proposals, the Chief Executive¡¯s Office issued the following statement today (May 8):

¡°The Chief Executive¡¯s Office stresses that the Chief Executive has never been in contact or discussion with the LegCo president, Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, regarding his voting preference for constitutional reform proposals.

As a matter of fact, since Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing assumed the post of LegCo president, the Chief Executive has high regard for Hon Tsang¡¯s special status.  The Chief Executive has not discussed with him any government policies, including the issue of constitutional development.

The hearsay is groundless, which we deeply regret.¡±
