CE to officiate at opening of HK Pavilion at Shanghai Expo and visit Jiangsu

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, will visit Shanghai and Jiangsu between April 26 and May 1. He will attend the Opening of the Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo) and officiate at the Opening of the Hong Kong Pavilion in the Shanghai Expo. Mr Tsang will also visit several cities in the Jiangsu Province to enhance understanding of the role of the Yangtze Delta region as the biggest economic circle in the country, to learn more about the experience of economic integration within the region and to establish closer ties and explore cooperation opportunities with the region.

     During the stay in Shanghai, Mr Tsang will inspect the Hong Kong Pavilion which carries the theme of "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential", and Hong Kong's Urban Best Practices Area exhibition with the theme of "Smart Cardˇ¤Smart Cityˇ¤Smart Life". He will attend the Opening Ceremony of the Shanghai Expo on the evening of April 30, and officiate at the Opening of the Hong Kong Pavilion in the Shanghai Expo the following day.

     While in the Jiangsu Province, the Chief Executive will visit several cities including Wuxi, Nanjing, Yangzhou and Suzhou. Besides meeting provincial and municipal officials, Mr Tsang will visit some key economic development areas and technology enterprises.

     The Chief Executive will be accompanied by the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Mr Raymond Tam; the Director of Information Services, Mr Michael Wong; the Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, Ms Bernadette Linn; the Information Co-ordinator, Mr Andy Ho; the Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Executive, Mr Chan Kin-ping; and the Assistant Director (Media), Mr Vic Yau.

     Upon conclusion of the official visit on May 1, Mr Tsang will have a brief private stay in the Mainland.  He will return to Hong Kong on May 2.

     During Mr Tsang's absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will be Acting Chief Executive from April 26 to April 28 morning and on May 2. The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will be Acting Chief Executive from April 28 afternoon to May 1.
