Another emergency relief grant approved for Mainland drought victims

     The Government has approved today (April 21) a grant of $250,000 from the Disaster Relief Fund for Operation Blessing Hong Kong Limited to undertake relief project for drought victims in Guizhou Province.

     The grant is further to a disbursement of $135.6 million made earlier for the government authorities of Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces/Region, The Amity Foundation, The Association of Chinese Evangelical Ministry Limited, The Salvation Army and World Vision Hong Kong to provide emergency relief to victims affected by the drought. It takes the total value of grants for drought victims on the Mainland to $135.85 million.

     "To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the relief agency has been asked to submit evaluation report and audited account on the use of the grant after the relief project has been completed," a government spokesman said.
