Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme applications invited
*********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) is inviting applications for the 2011 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme.

The scheme aims to bring the arts into the community by joining with local performing artists and arts groups to organise outreach arts activities throughout Hong Kong for the public or particular community groups. Closing date for applications is on May 20.

Applicants should be registered local non-profit-making performing arts groups or ensembles of artists that have been active, in the past three years, in the promotion of a specific art form in Hong Kong, with proven experience and artistic merit in public performances. Applicants can submit proposals for audience building/arts educational activities that are specifically designed for particular community groups or which will be conducted in specific districts, or for audience building/arts educational activities that are designed for the general public. Applicants may submit one proposal for either or both of the above two types of activities. However, only one of the proposals submitted by the same applicant will be considered by the department each year.

The proposal should cover one or more performing art forms including Chinese opera/operatic singing, dance, music, theatrical arts (including drama, mime, magic and puppetry) and multi-arts. Proposed projects may include one or a combination of the following types of activities: performance, workshop, episodic performance, lecture, demonstration and exhibition.

Application forms and detailed information on the scheme are available at www.lcsd.gov.hk/ab as well as the department's cultural venues, and can be obtained by mail or in person from the Audience Building Office at Podium, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui (from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday); or by fax at 2370 8295.

Completed application forms should be submitted with supporting information and two sets of photocopies to the Audience Building Office not later than 6pm on May 20. Please mark "2011 Community Cultural Ambassador Scheme" on the envelope. Applications sent by post will be checked against the postmark.
