Condolences from the Director of Fire Services (with photo)

     The Director of Fire Services, Mr Lo Chun-hung, is deeply saddened by the death of Senior Fireman Mr Yeung Chun-kit, who died while fighting a fire on the fifth floor of Lai Cheong Factory Building, 479 Castle Peak Road, Cheung Sha Wan, this morning (March 8).

     Mr Lo also offered his deepest condolences to Mr Yeung's family. Mr Yeung is survived by his wife and 20-year-old daughter. A Service Welfare Officer is in close contact with his family to offer assistance during this sad and difficult period.

     Mr Yeung Chun-kit, aged 47, joined the Fire Services Department (FSD) in October 1984 as Fireman and was promoted to Senior Fireman in May 2005. He was attached to Lai Chi Kok Fire Station.
     
     Three firefighters were also injured in the fire and sent to hospital for treatment. Mr Lo also expressed sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured firemen.

     The FSD has set up a special team to investigate the incident.
