600 students build spectacular display for flower show (with photos)
************************************************************

About 600 students from 21 schools, in showing their cooperative and team spirit, joined hands to put up the spectacular mosaiculture display "An Ocean Fantasy" at Victoria Park today (March 6).

The display features a group of lively marine creatures, including a seahorse, sea turtle, octopus, starfish, lobster, fish and shellfish. It will be exhibited at the coming Hong Kong Flower Show to be held from March 19 to 28.

The display is embellished with over 30,000 colourful flowering plants of various species, including Kalanchoe, Carnation, Marigold, Golden Dewdrop, Callistephus, Dianthus, Chrysanthemum Multicaule, New Guinea Impatiens, Cineraria, Dusty Miller and Pansy, creating an oceanic world of fantasy in rainbow colours and joyful atmosphere. Some of the plant sculptures are also designed with movable parts, adding motion to the spectacular display.

The marine creatures with abundant energy together with the luster of pearl symbolize the vibrancy of Hong Kong which is reputed as the "Pearl of the Orient".

The annual Hong Kong Flower Show, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held in Victoria Park for ten days between March 19 and 28, from 9am to 9pm daily.
