The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 3) obtained in the District Court an order for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $72,000 against an employer.
The District Court today issued its judgment against the employer, Lucky Dragon Boat Restaurant Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA the sum of $72,112.52, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 52 employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court also ordered the defendant to pay costs of $930.
