Reward for information about plastic bottle with corrosive fluid fell from height case in Yau Ma Tei

     Police are offering a $300,000 reward for information that helps solve a case in Yau Ma Tei on January 9 this year in which two plastic bottles containing corrosive fluid were thrown from a building.

     About 9.35pm on January 9, police received a report that two plastic bottles had been thrown from a building at 1D Nanking Street, Yau Ma Tei into the street below.

     The bottles containing corrosive fluid blasted and splashed when landing on the ground, causing chemical burn injuries of different degrees over the bodies of a total of 30 passers-by, including 19 men and eleven women, aged from 7 to 56. Police investigation believed that it was a deliberate act by unknown culprit(s).

     Police have classified the case as throwing corrosive fluid with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Active investigations by the Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West are underway.

     Police appeal to anyone who has information on the case to contact any police station or the investigating officers on 2761 2401.

     They can also give the information by letter to General Post Office Box No. 999, by fax at 2520 2828 or by email to crimeinformation@police.gov.hk.

     The reward will be paid either in full or pro-rata to any person or shared among people giving information leading to the arrest and satisfactory prosecution of those responsible for the attack. The reward is valid for six months.
