Tim Mei Avenue road improvement works gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (January 15) on a road improvement scheme at Tim Mei Avenue to enhance the accessibility of the new Legislative Council Complex.

     The proposed works include construction of a roundabout at the junction of Tim Mei Avenue, Lung Wui Road and Road D9; modification of a section of Road D9 of about 50 metres from the roundabout into a two-way single carriageway with one traffic lane each bound; provision of a U-turn facility at the southern end of Tim Mei Avenue; conversion of an existing lay-by on Tim Mei Avenue into a footpath; construction of a lay-by at the northern end of Tim Mei Avenue northbound; permanent or temporarily closure and reconstruction/modification of sections of carriageways, footpaths, refuge islands/central reserves and a lay-by; and ancillary works such as drainage works and landscaping works, and provision of street lighting, traffic aids and railing.

     The works will start in 2010 for completion in about nine months.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) District Lands Office, Hong Kong West and South, 19th Floor, Southorn Centre, 130-150 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before March 16.
