The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, will fly to Beijing this afternoon (October 27) to attend various promotional events under the 13th Beijing - Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Symposium.
Tomorrow (Wednesday), Professor Chan will meet Mainland finance officials and open the Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Design Gallery in Beijing.
On Thursday morning, joined by Hong Kong prominent businessmen, Professor Chan will call on the Mayor of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, Mr Guo Jinlong. He will then officiate and speak at the opening of the 13th Beijing - Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Symposium, a major event to bolster economic and trade ties between Beijing and Hong Kong. Professor Chan will also attend the opening of the First Hong Kong Brands Exhibition.
In the afternoon, Professor Chan will participate in the Beijing-Hong Kong Financial Services Co-operation Forum. Financial executives, government officials as well as representatives of market regulators from the two cities will attend the forum and exchange views on financial industry development.
Professor Chan will return to Hong Kong on Thursday night.
