Fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

    Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sham Shui Po last night (October 16) in which a 54-year-old man was killed.

    About 10.05pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 51-year-old man was travelling along northbound Yen Chow Street. Near Cheung Sha Wan Road, it hit the man who was crossing the road.  

The 54-year-old man was trapped underneath the vehicle and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, he was taken to Caritas Medical Centre where he was certified dead at 10.55pm.

The HGV driver has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

    Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are proceeding.
