Import applications for poultry from Spain suspended

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (October 14) that processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Spain would be suspended with immediate effect.
ˇ°The decision was taken following confirmation of a case involving the highly pathogenic avian influenza H7 in a poultry farm in Castilla-La Mancha," a CFS spokesman said.
ˇ°We are seeking further information about the case from the relevant authorities.ˇ±
Hong Kong imported about 300 tonnes of frozen poultry and poultry products from Spain from January to July this year.
