Yuen Long food premises ordered to suspend business

     The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food premises in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

     The food premises (ʤÐË»ðÎÑС³´), at Shop 2, ground floor, Hing Nin Building, 30-36 Hop Yick Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 8) to July 21.

     ¡°In June last year and April this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises,¡± a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

     ¡°A total fine of $9,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension.¡±

     He said the food premises also had convictions in September 2007 and May last year for the same offence.

     ¡°A fine of $5,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from July 17-23 last year,¡± the spokesman said.

     He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
