Vacancy in Kwai Tsing District Council

The Acting Director of Home Affairs declared by notice in the Gazette today (April 9) a vacancy in the Kwai Tsing District Council's Kwai Shing East Estate Constituency.
Former Kwai Tsing District Councillor Leung Kwong-cheong had been sentenced at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts to 16 months' imprisonment, suspended for three years, and a fine of $130,000 for fraud. In accordance with Section 26(c) of the District Councils Ordinance, the office became vacant on August 25, 2008.
The Registration and Electoral Office will arrange for a by-election.
