Israel-bound Hong Kong travellers should watch local situation
*****************************************************

In view of the recent developments in Israel and its surrounding areas, a Government spokesman today (January 27) reminded Hong Kong residents who plan to visit these areas to pay close attention to the situation there. Those who are already there should attend to their personal safety.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government will maintain a close liaison with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Israel to monitor the latest situation there.

The Immigration Department has so far received no request for assistance. Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868. The telephone numbers of the Chinese Embassy in Israel are: 00972-3-5442638 or 00972-52-8392699.
