Following the press release issued at 5.23pm, a Government spokesman today (January 23) added that 18 students and a tutor returned to Hong Kong this evening. Staff of Department of Health immediately conducted medical check for them.
Regarding the remaining 12 students in Chengdu, nine of them were discharged from hospital this evening and are now staying in hotel. The other three will stay in hospital for one more night. Their condition is stable. According to the clinical diagnosis of the attending doctor, the students have ordinary seasonal influenza and they have only experienced mild flu.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong is liaising with the airlines to arrange the students in Chengdu to fly back Hong Kong tomorrow. HKSARG will continue to provide assistance to them.
