Students invited to enter flower show drawing competition

     Primary and Secondary school students interested in joining the Nanyang Commercial Bank Student Drawing Competition of Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 are invited to enrol through their schools before February 9.

     Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the competition will be held on March 13 (Friday) from 9am to noon at Victoria Park.

     The competition will feature students' drawings of exquisite flowers and unique garden displays in the showground with a view to enhancing their awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.

     Entries should be associated with Hong Kong Flower Show 2009. Participants may depict any flowers or garden displays in the showground by means of sketching or other forms of drawing and painting.

     The competition will be conducted in four categories: Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).

     In addition to the champion, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up, 10 winners of highly commended and 30 winners of certificate of merit will be awarded in each category. There will also be an overall champion  in the Primary and Secondary School sections.

     Prospectuses and entry forms can be downloaded from LCSD website www.lcsd.gov.hk. Completed forms should be signed by the principal of the participating schools and sent to the "Chairman of Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2009" at the Boundary Street Sports Centre, 200 Sai Yee Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (2787 6310) on or before February 9 (Monday).

     Winning entries of champion, 1st and 2nd runner-up and highly commended will be exhibited at the showground at Victoria Park from March 14-22. All winning entries will then be exhibited at the Kowloon Park Arcade and also available for viewing at LCSD website in May.
