The Government today (December 31) announced that the Chief Executive had re-appointed Mr Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) for a six-month period from tomorrow (January 1).
¡°Although Mr Leung will have served as Chairman of the HKPC for six years by the end of this year, having regard to the current economic situation, as a special arrangement, we have asked Mr Leung to stay on for a further six months,¡± a government spokesman said.
Mr Leung was first appointed Chairman of the HKPC in January 2003. ¡°We believe this special arrangement will allow the HKPC to continue to benefit from Mr Leung¡¯s long industry experience and able leadership, at a time when the industry, especially SMEs, is looking to HKPC for more professional advice and support.¡± the spokesman said.
