The Government announced today (December 15) that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Barry Cheung Chun-yuen as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service for a term of two years. The appointment will take effect on January 1, 2009.
The Chief Executive has also re-appointed five of the existing members and appointed two new members to the Standing Committee with effect from January 1, 2009.
Ms Chiang Lai-yuen and Ms Wong Mee-chun are re-appointed as members of the Standing Committee and respectively as the Chairman of the Police Sub-Committee and the Chairman of the General Disciplined Services Sub-Committee for a term of two years. Mr Mark Lin and Mr Michael Lee Tze-hau are re-appointed as members for a term of two years. Mr Ip Kwok-him is re-appointed as a member for a term of one year.
The two newly appointed members are Mrs Margaret Leung Ko May-yee and Dr David Wong Yau-kar. They are appointed for a term of two years.
The Chief Executive has also appointed Mr William Chan Fu-keung, an existing member of the Standing Committee, as the Chairman of the ICAC Sub-Committee for a term of one year with effect from January 1, 2009.
The Standing Committee is currently under the chairmanship of Mr Henry Fan Hung-ling who will retire on December 31, 2008. The Government expresses gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the work of the Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee advises the Government on matters relating to the salaries and conditions of service of the disciplined services.
